Miscellaneous Berlin thoughts, also much less organized than Dave's.

Isaac is right, doners are incredible and the rest of the world should have them. Basically a meal on a roll -- doner meat, veggies, sauce.  And enormous.  I've also discovered salad with donor meat on it and doner platter without the roll.  Also curry wurst is as good as I remember.  And yesterday after most of  the flea market near us had closed, one last stand was selling their bratwurst for €2.  Also delicious.
Getting a new phone when the old one is dead means I can only transfer the info Google knows about.  Not most of my apps, and none of my game records.  I find I'm not all that upset to break assorted daily records, which I shall henceforth ignore.

Euro notes are slippery.

Berlin is still very full of cobblestones.  Also still a significant number of people who only take cash.  We never actually used an ATM in Iceland; we've hit the ATM here three times.
Total flea market haul is two scarves, a purse, and 4 comics.  And Tibetan, German and Turkish street food.  Tibetan dumplings were made while we watched. Turkish street food included a zucchini sandwich, which is a zucchini and stuff patty on an enormous soft bun.  I've seen them in a couple of times now.

We ventured onto the S-Bahn yesterday.  Quite scooter friendly.  But when we started home, from a different station, the elevator to the elevated platform was down.  I went and found the Deutsche Bahn info desk, and a helpful gentleman told us how to look for the shuttle which is there to take the disabled to a working station.  Five minutes later, when we were standing there trying to figure out where it was, he came out to be sure we found it.  Not there.  He spent a while on the phone, established that it was way overbooked, worked out an alternate plan involving getting to a DB train and then changing to our local,  brought us to the train, got us on, made sure the conductor knew where we were getting off.  Amazingly helpful; it probably took 15 minutes of his time.

S-Bahn today was smooth all the way.

We have now met my original goals:  Dave got some of his comics, Isaac got a doner, I got some currywurst.  Also a new goal -- I got a new phone.  Now we are getting ready to do some serious touristing.  Museum Island, which is walking distance.  Boat trip on the Spree, if we can find an accessible one.  Probably zoo and aquarium.  Possibly used book/comic stores.

It rained quite a bit Friday, some Saturday, a little today.  And I swear the next time I come to Berlin I'm coming in August.  It must be warm here sometimes!

Currywurst everywhere, our S-Bahn stop, Dave at Trodelmarkt, view from our hotel balcony.
